You can map it in the car, but it is not "live". How they usually do it is with one of the Pectel monitors that can adjust the fuelling and ignition timing. Once it is as close as they can get it with that method, they then write a chip to that spec, burn it to an EPROM, remove the old chip, replace it with the new and repeat until they are happy. It usually takes up to 7-8 chips to get it spot on.
Where on the other ECUs it can be properly live mapped, as in you can keep making adjustments on the lap top "live" until you are happy (via an emulator which connects the lap top directly into the ECU) and then when it is done just send the final map to the existing EPROM in the ECU - job done.
I like the P8, it just takes a lot longer to map, but it's additional features are worth it in my mind.Mike Rainbird

Nordschleife, there's only two barriers to worry about - the ones on the left and the ones on the right.

Ahmed Bayjoo and Paul Hills work directly from my workshop if you require specialist ECU work or tuning, or even checking of my map if you need more confidence in my ability
I will try to be on the safer side of tuning and throttle response, than making max power on customers engines. Hence when running big power YB's i get them checked over again just to be on the safe side. This is good for the customer as it has 2 trained eyes check over the maps. .New project on !! Another Cosworth coming soon!!

Iv'e seen tony map loads of cars. I've never seen him take 7-8 trys more like 1-2 I saw him map steve 4i's car and frasers they both beat all on a rolling road shoot out. Its like everything there is plenty that can do it, but only a few have proven results.

for all my tuning needs i use Turbosystems 07587188434. ask for tony

The price is roughly around £150. Thats what most customers get charged for a visual look and hands on check over the engine with fuel pressure, voltage drops, static tune, road map and testing. On pretty much any engine with a Cosworth ECU.
If its a new engine build it can be run in on the rollers before high rpm and maps etc. Also if its a high power car like some of the skylines or 500+bhp engines most of the work is done on the rollers for safety as much as simplicity. Then obviously the final adjustments on the map would be done on the road.
Personally i prefer the real road over any other method of tuning an engine.
Sinclair motorsport is next door with a rolling road if you want a print out after the map has been finished this can be arranged.
