My personal opinion is...was great fun when it was around the 180mph point,now over 200mph?Crazy...in a saff or an escos,both wernt developed for massive top speeds unlike the RS500 of course which could easily handle 180 ish in touring cars unless i am mistaken?Lets look at the reyland car...no rear whale...big off..too much power or dodgy rear end componant or just no downforce or combo of 3?How many times has a saff been to brunters for a top speed run and the sunroof has flown off?In particular the saff is really not a top speed car and the next attempt of what 205mph + is an accident waiting to happen imo,and there will be no survivors if there was a error..and that error could be driver or car error,i understand its very easy to do the top speed its the stopping and at brunters you have to brake aggresively to avoid certain death....so begs the question why not go somewhere else where you could slow down gently?Its getting out of hand,but fortunately not many are bothered by the challenge.You know i cant even say i admire Rod's balls maybe because i have never seen them,but maybe because i think the challenge is stupid,why isnt mark driving it anymore?What does that tell you?Atleast use a safer longer venue to minimise the risk off others having to clean up after a senior citizen!....The people who i really admire is you track people striving for that better lap time..especially the nurbergring nutters...yes you could argue more dangerous but i would say this all comes down to driver skill nothing to do with a car not being able to do the event unless you are one of those that buys a banger for fun to risk your own and others life to try be that hero on the nurbergring...FAIL you are a twat!A track day person is that wannabe Nigel Mansell and nothing wrong with that...a top speed person is just a person who really wishes they could have afforded a car that could do 200mph out the box instead of gradually adding bits to a car to acheive it....this is my opinion as there is no challenge to it.

this 200 mph stuff is great for mags, but you take one of these cars hill climbing and lets see how they compare when challenged with handling against a clock

I personally think its a fantasic achievement to say that you have a Cosworth that will go 215 or whatever in the confines of Brunters, BUT i don't want to be told about it with every post in such a patronising, demeaning way as occurs on certain other sites. That REALLY REALLY grates on me.

A tyre blowing out is the only issue that will cause a problem.

That could happen at 30mph , 90mph, or 200mph.

The confines of Brunters are what makes it impressive for an old smoker to do it.

ive said to trace i have wanted to get mine over 180.i wanted to in the saff but it will have to be the 'scort if i do. i would be happy with a car that handles great but can pull 180 quickly

i dint think there is anything wrong with speed

its when you try to confine it problems occur iv sat at 160 in the b10 & at the 7200rpm limiter in the nail no issues the B10 didn't even feel like it was braking a sweat

but

i have also drove along brunters & luckily never had to brake hard from high speed at the end of the strait
doing the sort of speeds people are trying in that location is just wrong
now i love the place for messing about or track-days but if you over shoot your braking point doing over 200mph there is no runoff at ether end just a mud bank

as the saying goes speed wont kill you but the sudden stop will get you every time

TBH when I spec my engine, I wanted to Take YUM's T38 crown, but realised there's more to life than chasing numbers! Martins car is a rolling advertisment IMO so its all money well spent.

Each to there own and if it makes you happy so what, what rod and mark have done is great but i think i could think of better ways to spend my cash but if rods wants to do why not ? just hope all goes well
