I suspect it would be even better with my engine .

Since the early days, have you had any more reliability issues with the EFR turbos? Also, have you tried these twin scroll turbos on a normal 2wd manifold? I appreciate it wouldn't be as good as with a proper divided manifold, but I was wondering if it is a half way house between the two?
Your graph was on a static run also and this was on a rr accelerating so there's a bit more diff. It would be good to see yours on the rr I use so we can see the diff with the same dyno.
I have a car in at the moment that has had a modded 2wd manifold and is deft later on boost than a good one. I should have a graph in the next week to show what it does.

yes would be good to see data and boost drop off in gear change ( if any ) this will show what you are talking about.

i have used twin scroll Garrett on a few engines but they are on race cars. and wennys drag escort. i cant say i have done much testing, and have never used a efr, turbos yet. i know wenny was on about fitting one!

The manifold and turbo combo make or break a twin scroll set up. Both need to be right.

      • Sorry Mike forgot to add it to my post. Other than the very first efr the others have been perfect. And this years time attack car we run has run one 2.5 bar in every session all session the owner wanted max use age lol has been fault less.
I will post link to it running on the track.

What did you have to do to the 2wd manifold? How much later is "later" or do I have to wait for the graph (can you get them to overlay the two to see the difference) ?

If you tell me what mode to get Gary to put their DD in and what gear to use, I can replicate the run on my car?

          • Love the way this thread has turned out.
If the EFR can do 2.5bar at 3400 rpm in fifth it must feel like driving a good turbo diesel in the midrange.
Just what you'd want for the streets.

It really will shock if you go in one its the biggest advance ive seen in my 18 years around the YB engine. Although this thread is about a s300 that is now not on the pace although still a big advance over older Technology Turbos.
Im amazed at Marks patience on this subject its so cut & dried he must feel like he is bashing his head against a thick Norfolk wall .

That's the difference between you and me Rod, you'll believe anything you're told, where I prefer to deal in facts and evidence .

I have had the same response out of my engine for the last 6 years that Mark has only recently achieved with the EFR turbos . Okay, so it cost an absolute fortune to achieve it, but at the time, these turbos weren't available and so the expensive way was the only option . However, you seem to believe that because Mark hasn't done it, no-one else can, but the fact remains (and as you can see from the dyno sheet), my shonky old RB T4 drives like a T34 car with the top end of a T4 ..

As the saying goes - you don't know what you don't know , and with you having never been out in my car, you constantly seem to make the same mistake in concluding that because I have a T4 on my car that it must drive like a normal T4 car, choosing to ignore the fact that it is 2.225 litres, has a Mountune roller-barrel inlet, T6 management,a 3.54" exhaust system and is on 3.9 gearing with a 'dog box.

You also seem to be under the misapprehension that me dissing the poorly set up T4 cars is the same thing as dissing the EFR turbos and neglecting to mention (perhaps Mark chose not to tell you ), that I approached him when he was getting the first batch of EFRs , but I got cold feet when one of the first ones famously let go while being mapped, hence why I keep asking about the reliability of them (as my turbo has had the shit kicked out of it with no issues for longer than I can remember), and given the abuse that my car gets (worse than racing, as a race doesn't last very long ), I want something as reliable as the T4.

But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your usual attempt at a dig .

Mike using a diff dyno could bring in a small diff but the atp one is a well run dyno so this should min it,
Shoot 44 mode and in 4th gear load engine up at 2500rpm and then run to the max revs you want I go to about 200rpm before limiter,
do about 4 runs until it is within a couple of hp then that's the max you will see,
If it had been the one I use I would have paid for it,
I would expect the power band to shift about 500rpm up from the dyno.

Cheers Mark, as soon as I get it back from having the diff fixed, I'll see when Gary can fit me in . Given the miles it has now done, I would be (pleasantly) surprised if it made the same power as when it was first built though LOL.

Btw Gary doesn't like twin scroll so there's no fan of it there lol.

I'm sure his dislike for twin-scroll can't affect the rolling road LOL.
