My escort Cosworth is a 1995 ash black, and is a standard Cosworth apart from rondells and lowered slightly anyway, I need some paint work sorting, I have a rust patch appearing on the rear tailgate where the escort badge is and coming from under the bottom spoiler and a small bit where the window seal is so I have got to take the rear screen out. I also have a mark on the rear bumper I want sorting too. Also on the front wings the lips on the wings have surface rust from stone chips I guess over the years, think this is a common fault, I think my sills are ok but was thinking of taking the skirts off to check and if so rectify.
My questions are, is my paint classed as water based paint??
Because I am having my two front wings painted, would I be better off having the bonnet and front bumper done too so it's the complete front end done??
I am asking this as my car is original and wasn't sure if I have a complete front end respray would I be ruining my car as it won't be classed as original anymore as all the stone chips will be gone but if I have a complete front end done this would be a much better finish??
