Seen as budget end of the market. If interested in doing a aftermarket ecu select your choosen mapper then go with his recommendation rather than choosing a ecu and then having to find a mapper as that is asking for problems.

It’s not a popular ecu on a YB and none of the YB companies I know of map them so you may want to think of that as well.

Agree with Mark on this, I spoke to a few people in the industry then looked for the best mapper within a few hours of where I am. Turns out he was highest recommended in my area by the manufacture...ended up with the Haltech Elite 1500 and was 100% satisfied from the first start on a base map.

EMU - EcuMastersUSA right here. Oppliger Motorsport build and his choice of ECU so like the above statement of Mark, its the mappers choice. The company(EMU) is making big progress and now i am using the software myself with every drive and learn to operate, i like it.

Which version of the EMU ECU do you have on your Escort?
The company "Ecumaster", making "EMU" ecus and other stuff, is based in Cracow, Poland, next to me.
Not long time ago they developed their new, quite advanced line of products. I also have the EMU ECU on one of my cars.

Right now i still have the EMU Classic. It does what it has to do, i get the latest testversions everytime they release and try to keep up on their forum.
Yes i know they are from Poland, i was at the Motorsport event in Cologne (Köln) a few weeks ago and talked to the owner (Jakub?) together with Romain Oppliger.

Are you satisfied with the EMU and use it yourself to modify or try other things?

It is probably a bit of an overkill in mine, because this car runs on carbs.
The final set-up is still not finished, as I've stripped the engine again, but it looks like everything we need to be controlled responds and works. My close friend is a mapping pro, so I am happy to be in good hands.
I also know some people who use these ECUs with no problems.

mine has MS3pro. it can run std cosworth's weber marelli crank / cam setup (or just about any other system in the known universe!). loads of inputs and outputs and all std cosworth sensors are compatible.

the software is dead easy to understand and use and integrates directly with the logging software which is included (SIM card in the ecu or external USB cable to lappy). the ecu + 8ft harness is about £1100. mine was mapped by Stu at msd who had never come across one previously but he said that he thought the software was very good.

finally, there is an app for adroid called Shadow Dash where you can create your own dashboard and the ecu blue tooths the data to it - really neat. i set it up for my kit car with a dedicated tablet but since the car is ony used on sunny days there wasn't suffcient contrast against the sun to be able to read it!
