What do people think of you for owning an Escort Cosworth? All I get off my mates is, "Why do you want one of them? You could go faster in an M3 for the same money, You would get more looks off women in an Audi A4 convertable for the same money." This is the only car I've ever thought of as more that just a machine to get you from A to B faster than walking. Am I alone here or do I need new friends?

same here mate. a few of my mates do see it as a proper car which looks the business and appreciate it, but then the rest would all prefer M3 convertibles + audi etc etc

an escos always turn heads, and an escos has been a dream car to most people who own them now because there is something special about them, it could sit in the garage for 6 months every year but as soon as you drive it out you get a smile on your face and personally i dnt think you would get that feeling with a normal m3, audi etc. People who dont get why you have 1 are people who dont know what they are

1 of my mates thought the same until i pulled into a petrol station and within minutes there was about 10 people round the car asking all about it, he soon changed his mind

theres loads of M3's etc on the rd and i never give them a 2nd glance

Who cares if someone is comparing the 2 cars they clearly know nothing what so ever about cars and for that reason should never have one, they are cars for enthusiasts, not hairdressers and poseurs.

There are hundreds of better cars for the money and more and more will get added to the list over the next 5 years but Escort's will always be the car to have in some peoples eyes.
It doesn't make sense, you either get them or you don't.

Most of mine think Im mad to have an "old" m reg escort that is worth that sort of money. I put it in the scot ads for £13000 and they missed a 0 off the end making it £1300 o.n.o had quite a few phone calls at work all they guys kept asking me what car I was talking about on the phone and what was the real price, when I said £13000 they thought I was taking the piss Why can I never get a job where there is people into thier cars.

if your mate is saying get an M3 because it pulls the birds more then he really is not into cars, just a penis extension. It makes owners "Look" like they have money and that's what attracts 16 year old girls (Im not talking from experience ). We brought our Esc Cos's because we love them. It just so happens a lot of other people do too. When ever I park my Escort and pop the bonnet I always have people come over for a look. Not many new cars do that Inc an M3.

I dont get that from my work colleagues and friends cos none of them are interested in cars........thou one fella at work said when he drops a rst lump into his fiesta it would see off my cos .....yeah right ,my car friends are all Ford fans so wouldnt touch M3 or Audi ..........agree there are a lot of "better" cars for £10 plus but an Escos is just SPECIAL

Like everyone has said, there are loads of better cars than the Cossie, but they're either in your blood or not. I find most normal cars really boring, there are very few that stand out from the crowd, but how often do you go out in your Cossie and no-one looks, or even comes up for a chat if you stop. You don't get that with most cars.

there are faster cars out there for the same or less money but they arent a clasic with the history the cossie has.as for the m3.i'd rather have a tuned escos all day over a common and in comparison slow m3.although i love the new one.
as for audi cabrios. 2 a penny and bland due to it. the only cabrio i would own is a ferrari,porsche or aston really.then you do have money.

i buy cars i love not because of women or mates. ive always been into fords and always will be.i love the lancia delta intergrale,caterham 7's,pulsar's and ae86's. tracey hates them all but it wouldnt stop me owning any of them
