and do not forget ford motorsports best driver smashed his foot up in a ferrari f40, i'd like to see sebastian loeb win a wrc from january onwards with his foot in a cast, any team who's best driver does himself in thus meaning the team can't get another top driver in is on thin ice.........

It is simple, supply and demand.

Limited supply and sufficient demand to maintain asking prices.

My 1st car was a mk2 rs2000, purchased 1 year after production ceased.

Demand still exists for these at a price well above new, even from people born after production ceased.

The mk1 rs I currently have is even older, and the demand remains for them keeping prices up.

Very soon I will look ridiculous driving around in my , but i'm enjoying it. It will appreciate like it's predecessors.

So stump up the cash or get a camry or something.
          Cheers
          John

It's obvious you've already decided that all Escort Cosworths
are over priced failuers that you have no intrest in paying the
            going rate for.
If all the cars for sale were overpriced then surely they would
never sell, forcing people to lower prices and all prices coming
down across the board as a result. Most of the cars that are 'over
priced' are for sale by traders who seem to think their on to a
good thing for some reason. At the end of the day, something will
only sell for a price that someones willing to pay...clearly that
            someone isn't you.
In no way am i blinkered as to how good (or not) these cars are,
what they are worth or the work involved in running/maintaining one
(if you intend on using it and not parking it in the garage).
As i have already said, good luck in finding the right car for you at a
price your happy with. I just hope that if you do manage to get one,
when you come to sell it on, you sell it for what YOU think they are
worth and not the going rate, i could do with a cheap old daily hack.

IF you want one buy one,

It's as straight forward as that.

im defo getting one but for under 20k which in my opinion is a fair price for a 20 yr old escort
i payed over 25k for an rs4 but thats the family motor the cossies just for the looks and to thrash about in now since i got rid of the scoob and again hence why i want one but il get one i feel is worth it not to get held to ransom off owners who think there worth super car money, can i ask an honest question if any of you crashed in it what is the book price the insurance company would offer you? because i.can imagine it would be not close to 25k my main issue was the prices and why they kept so high but its obv down to a majority of pipe dreaming sellers etc who have set them all amongst themselves, my opinion anyways

You'd need to have an agreed value policy (where you are paid out to replace with a similar vehicle), I think anyone with a would be nuts not to, as the 'book' prices in stuff like glasses guide are out of touch. I used to have mine on a trade policy, I soon changed that pronto when I was told the trade value if it was pinched or written off was 8k.

You'd also need a proper valuation to back this up.

my point exactly mate there worth not much unless your a diehard rs lover that thinks there worth over 30 k and want to own one, i just think some folk are being unrelistic with there pricing and take it to heart when someone makes an opinion they dont agree with its an escort with a spoiler and thats all it means to me, im not trying to offend folk

Fact is though that they are worth much more than 'book' just due to supply and demand. Book price on a usable Triumph Stag is around 6k, you try and find a good one for less than 10K!

At the end of the day, a good usable car will be priced at around 14 to 18k with lA1 condition, lower mileage, lower owner, or highly modded cars commanding up to 10k more.

Many of the dealer sale cars are overpriced, but that is the same with all vehicle when compared to a private sale - agreed that some are taking the pi$$ though with at the moment.
