They do have but what supprieses people is the fact you can have 500hp and better response than a T34.

As i have read that the 7163 spools only very little slower than the 6758 and is still rated as 500+ bhp, i have still some questions about the 7163 with TS.

Sounds to me as it has a lower boost threshold than the 7064.
Any problems (surge) with the 7163 and the YB engines?

I would rather loose a little of top end power and have a considerable lower boost threshold.

Has anyone a comparison on how much boost the 7064 delivers at 2500, 3000 and 3500 rpm compared to the 7163?

      Thank you!

I have not tried a 7163 on any engine yet.

I´ve seen this graph in post 47 in the thread "Standard YB with EFR 7064 Turbo" that shows that the efr is on full boost at 3800 rpm.

How much earlier can you get full boost? Would it be possible to achieve full boost at 3000 rpm while still reaching 500bhp, including the help of cams and a ported head?

Would love to have a range from 3000 to 7000 rpm with no lag.

As i have seen the dyno of Grey_rs engine. And think it looks really great.
How is the 7064 compared to the Garrett 3071r?

          Thanks!

            Stupid question alert

Is there a simple explanation of how one of these turbos works compared to how a standard turbo work

This is a nice package with the 7064

The gt3071 is a ok turbo but doesn't compare to a Efr.

Yours has a 1mm smaller port head and a diff exhaust cam so it will be interesting to see the diff.

                    • What port sizes and what cams are recommended?
26mm/25mm? Would be BD14 inlet and std exhaust sufficient?

Port sizes are fine cam spec can be better.

                        • What cams would be better?
Would like to keep the std exhaust for better low down power.

The exhaust cam benafits or downside are diff when you have a twin scroll set up.

                            • Ok. Yes i want to switch to twin scroll.
So what cams would be fine?

                              • So should you be switching to a higher lift exhaust cam when fitting a EFR rather than a standard profile Mark?

                                Cheers Rich
