Classic cars are like fine art, ford, Ferrari, Porsche etc etc, value will rise as people who have money will buy them, just because they can, people are getting wealthier, we may not think it but we are, there's a big divide between middle class and working class, the working class is now the new middle class, money to spend on what we want, people who don't have money don't have a car lying in the garage for 6 months of the year doing nothing, itself not logical.
Anyway I bought one because the prices were rising, not because I seen it as an investment, but baca use as a 15 year old boy, the styling simply blew me away

i defo agree with the fact that prices are getting ridiculous im all for profit but i think its a dam shame to keep an esco in storage for years to hopefully make money when an enthusiast would appreciate it and use it like it should, you just dont see these on the road anymore and its a shame, but alot of collector type owners and over zealous traders are pricing the folk who deserve these cars right out the market for a car they always wanted
i just think alot of folk genuinly are dreaming to expect to fetch 50k plus hardly anyone has that disposable income, plus in my opinion the escos has done fantastic in keepn its value due to owners clubs etc and enthusiasts not because there worth it lets be honest

Why do people feel the need to criticise people who rarely use these cars? There nog the best cars to drive and if you can afford to store one you probably can afford to but something better to drive on a daily basis,.... Anyway were you not stirring the shit a few weeks ago along the same topic?

its not stirring shit its an opinion and mine which i stated, everyone is intitled to theres aswell, like you i wanted one because of the styling, just because i dont agree with the prices or heritage does not make me a hater or out to get any one i was looking for opinions as im on the outside looking in as im not a true cosworth fan i like loads of diffrent old skool cars etc

but would be intresting to see if anyone actully admits they have one for pure investment only

i got my escort cossy because i just love them , had 4 or 5 from 1995 to 2000 , got a bigger house so the car had to go for a few years , got 1 again last year and i have just got another 1 owner car , not in it to make money , as long as i get around what i paid i am happy , would never pay 40 to 50 k for a car , about to sell my 1996 48k cossy for around 16500

I'm 21 and I bought my monte purely for the fun factor of having one and also all my mates have the new motors such as c63's etc I prefer the look of the escos and the feeling you get when you drive it! Mind you mine will be worth more then there's in 10 years still so win win

if I had the money I would buy one to make money on,why not, better than sitting in the bank getting hardly no interest.

I would think that we all think it like that.

firstly i appreciate most on here idolize the esco but iv wondered when the escort was out and everyone who grew up seeing it and with it etc most owners now back then would have been in the age bracket 10-50yrs old i presume and wanted one , now for talking sake those same owners or fanatics would be now 30-70yrs old now that the esco is 20yrs old and yea the car has kept its value as new was around 25k
i know alot of folk buy these for investment but do owners really think folk will pay 35-50k for one in 10-20 yrs my point being in another 20yrs you guys will be 50plus i imagine and the new generation will be wanting there icon cars like rs focuses subarus audis bmw etc
my point is you owners now will be older the new generation wont want one or care and not everyone will have a spare 40-50 k to buy an escort unless there diehards so are you not better using it and enjoying it, as i think the novelty of storing them and hoping to cash in might bite you back one day
my opinion guys whats yours? are they really that good an investment?

sparky ,for most of us cossies are in the blood

no matter what are cars would be worth in a 100 years time ,we wiil all have spent more on them over their lifetime than their end value

                              cheers james

That is very close to retirement age and possibly through there working life could not afford a cosworth or justify one with young families and busy lives! So Mr joe Bloggs for example divorces his wife? Kids grow up and leave home? Pension matures? Downsizes family home to a bungalow?what ever the scenario mr Bloggs decides to have a new lease of life at 50 and fantasises of an escos that by this time has become even rarer and pricier but like most 45 yr old classics is an itch he has to scratch to re-live his once found youth!

So unfortunately the reasoning you have presented is no more sound than my take or any other for that matter because if you want a car that you have desired for 20 or 40 years and you have the cash to buy it knowing you can own it and sell it on one day for the same if not more, then you probably will because life for many ppl is experiencing dreams and fantasies to accomplish life as you only have 1 go at it.

That's why my wife dresses up as cat woman when I'm a good lad!
So true, I'm 33 and I'm sure same aged guys will be collection escos in 30yrs time, I defo will be
