Sparkyp, you don't understand. We all bought our cars for 7-10k and agreed to pump the prices and wait until we break 30k. We are almost there, that is what is this site about, buying cheap and wait for idiots who would pay 30k for just ugly mk5 escort.
Beawere we are working on our next project....

i would not have one for investment, look dont get me wrong if you manage to sell all yours for 30k etc well done but i think in years to come some folk mite be eating humble pie when they try to cash in on there garage ornament with 20k miles for 35k plus and they end up stuck with it cos no one wants one anymore, and you need to sell it for 20k anyway, for the sake of a few grand are folk not just better driving and enjoying them rather than bubble wrapping them
that was another opinion i got folk bubbling over

If anyone needs humble pie its you!!! You might get more serious answers to your questions as well then, if you're genuinely interested in a Escort Cosworth...
As for driving them, when you've had one a while you might realise that its not best suited as a daily driver. As for your ongoing bollocks about investment, I have spent more money on the car than I bought it for. I know very well that I'm not the only one to have done that. Hardly a good investment is it?

im talking bout the ones who genuinly think you will get 30k and over for one of these or there worth that today, yet i bet most on this totaly disagree with the 17k that fifth gear quoted, right or wrong? im just intrested in your opinions on the prices you value these at thats all fellas

I bought my escort cosworth because it looks good sitting in my garage next to my 3 door Sierra cosworth, simple as that. It was on my bucket list, when one came up for sale locally and I could afford it I bought it. At no time did I think of it as a viable investment, rather from experience I viewed it as a lifelong bottomless moneypit. I have 14 cars, mostly classic and fast fords and I could easily sell some of them and pay off my mortgage but instead I choose to work and indulge in my passion for these cars. And there is your answer: the value of a classic car will always be determined by current market value. If you are into cars you will know that value increases dramatically due to rarity. As there were only around 7100 escort cosworths built new and roughly 1000 left in the UK (according to the how many are left website when I bought my car) they will always be a rare car and as such have a value that reflects this. This is why prices have remained strong on escort Cosworths and they never dipped to the levels of much more available classics which are now sky high again. For example I bought my 77 mk2 RS2000 about 8 or 9 years ago for £1300 try and find one for that price now. Even ford lost money on the escort cosworth as they were only sold to the public for homoglation purposes but were designed as a rally car from the start. I don't think you will ever own one sparky you would be better off sticking to an Astra as it seems to suit your personality perfectly. Only decent thing about the Astra was the red top engine the cylinder head of which was designed by COSWORTH !

your correct the c20xe does have a coscast head, but when i get one it will be treated like my other cars if it breaks il pay someone to fix it, it will be parked outside on the drive like the others, to me its really just a car i wantd for the looks, the cosworth and rally sport badging means nothing to me tbh, so will never be an investment or collecting item, i expect mine to be at most local meets and cruises to show it off when i do get it

                        • There are very few cars at the £30grand you are on about whether you agree about prices or not its what the owners want for the car and it's only what the buying public that can decide if they are worth that.to some extent I agree that there are crazy prices wanted for these cars ie MOR at £50k the one in autotrader at £39k but as you are prob aware there are a good few of these cars that are sticking ie redline bhp cars and Lawton brook just took 3grand off their monte so in some respects yes I agree on the other hand 90percent of the escos owners will lavish £££££s on their cars and never see it back so as far as investment goes I think your a bit far off with your thoughts.there are a good few cars at 14grand -20 grand budget not all are wanting inflated prices but the good concourse cars will always command upwards of that figure.would I pay upwards of £30 grand for one-NO but I have a budget that I feel should get me car/colour miles etc I want and If it's out with my reach ill simply not buy it!!!! Gone with the days of buying a 25000 miles escos for £15000 I should know I sold mine for that figure years ago and I will need prob to add another £5/7000 for as good an example as I had
What's the point moaning about prices if you don't want to spend the sort of money they are worth then why bother receiving the negative feedback and alienating yourself from a good freiendly forum
